The Botticino Marble
Trade in Botticino marble slabs of various thicknesses and finishes.
Botticino marble is a special type of compact (pure) beige micritic limestone , quarried in the quarries of Botticino, Nuvolento , Nuvolera, Rezzato and Serle in the province of Brescia.
The limestone deposit from which Botticino Classico marble is extracted, was formed between 190 and 60 million years ago by the slow and continuous process of sedimentation, cementation and recrystallisation of calcareous mud in a ‘ lagoonsea’ of Mesozoic age.
The tropical-type climate was also home to organisms that, fossilised, now constitute one of the most prized peculiarities of marble.
The tradition of working Botticino marble
Marmi Senco uses its experience to bring out the natural characteristics of this material and realise unique applications capable of characterising any type of environment.
The colour variety of Botticino Classico marble originates from the different concentration and pattern of inclusions of organic and inorganic origin in the homogenous paste composed of fine mud carbonate and predominantly calcareous, which is called micrite.
Its extreme compactness, porosity and low absorption values, make it suitable for outdoor use and determine its mechanical characteristics such as resistance to compression, bending and wear.
Due to its unquestionable beauty and great durability, Botticino marble is also widely used in architecture and interior design and is considered design and is considered a very valuable marble worldwide.
